Q: What is currently available for picking in the Orchard?
A:  You can find out what is currently being picked by visiting our pick roster at Apple Varieties or by calling the Orchard office at 845/986-7080.  We always recommend calling before you come for the latest conditions and availabilities.

Q: How many apples are in a...?
A:  We provide you with 1/2 bushel bags, each of which holds approximately 20 lbs. of apples.  1 lb. of apples consists of 4 small apples OR 3 medium apples OR 2 large apples. 2 medium apples are equivalent to 1 cup of grated apple. 2 lbs. of apples make 1 9" apple pie. A peck of apples weighs about 10 1/2 lbs.  A whole bushel of apples weighs about 42 pounds and will yield 20-24 quarts of applesauce. 1 lb. of apples yields approximately 3 cups of diced apples OR 2 1/2 cups of pared/sliced apples.
For "apple math" cooking helpers, see Recipes
